Official Embassies & Consulates

The embassy in Reykjavik, Iceland, was officially inaugurated in March 1994 at Nylistasafnid (The Living Art Museum). The gallery was refurnished into a semiprivate semiofficial place with a bookshelf, a sofa, chairs and the Constitution (here translated into Icelandic) as well some paraphernalia was on display.

The evening was beautifully prepared by Ambassador Andrew M McKenzie, assisted by Erla Thorarinnsdottir, and the guests were served with a lot of home-distilled alcohol and Coca Cola while endlessly enjoying the muzak version of the National Anthem.
